When I began painting this series, of only three paintings, I was breast feeding my first child. I thought it was interesting that of all the amazing food that is available in the world, at that beginning stage of life, none of the other food was tempting for her to eat.

I also made pen and ink images of breast feeding. I drew this while my daughter, her first week home, was breast feeding. I like this image because it reveals the perspective of the artist mother and because she is so tiny and my milk has just come in. Her nose is so small and round so she can latch on easily. |

By the time I was painting the series she was eating other foods also.
Ozma liked to sneak over to my painting spot and paint on my pictures. She used the water and brushes that were left out.
