Look
The kids and Rick come to visit me off and on over the days and I have to keep telling them not to eat the raspberries. They keep munching all the ones around me. The berries are my subjects, I need them. This raspberry patch, at the top of the hill at the gate entrance, is a busy spot.
Paint
The dried grasses are swirling lines, the raspberry stalks are fluffy with spines and the shadows make a diagonal river. Gooseberry bushes are fun to paint the sharp prickly stems encourage hundreds of pointy strokes. I follow xing, spiraling ...motions
Feel
Being outside means being in the public eye. I talk to a lot of people each day as they pass by and stop to look at my work, talk about my work and the residency. Everyday I am asked for my business card, I don’t have one but I should. It is a validating experience to have the public care about and interested in my art. Usually I am a hidden artist painting away in the solitude of my studio.
